SADAF/MOP SHELL

SCIENTIFIC NAME: Pteria Margaritifera Concha

UNIQUINESS: These are one by one hand selected grey sliver lip shells of mother of pearl. Its thickness is 3.5mm to 5 mm, length is 15-16 cm and width is 13 to 14 cm.

APPLICATION: MOP shells are carved to produce jewelry, craft supplies, precious ornaments such as rings, necklace, buttons, cufflink, pendants, earnings, watches, belts etc. It is also used in making cutlery utensils to retain the flavor of particular cuisines such as caviar.

TASTE: Tasteless

SANDAL/ SANDALWOOD

SCIENTIFIC NAME: Santalum album

UNIQUINESS: A small tree 20 to 30 feet high, with many opposite slender drooping branches, bark smooth grey-brown. Young twigs glabrous; leaves opposite, without stipules, petiole slender, about 1/2 inch long. Used internally in chronic bronchitis, a few drops on sugar giving relief; also in gonorrhoea and gleet; in chronic cystitis, with benzoic and boric acids. Much used as a perfume for different purposes. The wood is used for making fancy articles and is much carved.

APPLICATION: Remove Blemishes,Skin Soothing, Acne Cure & Blackheads Removal,Fairer Complexion. Widely used in perfume industry.The oils has been used in medicine for at least three thousand years, and, is so powerful.

ISPAGHUL/HUSK

SCIENTIFIC NAME: PLANTAGO OVATA FORSSK

UNIQUNESS: A steamless or sub causlescent soft hairy or woolly annual herb. Leaves narrowly linear or filiform, entire or distantly toothed, flowers in cylindric or ovoid spikes:8mm long. It is prescribed largerly for the treatment of chronic constipation, dysentery, biliousness, diarrhea, fever thirst and inflammations. Along with aqua rose it is grounded and applied locally for the treatment of headache. It is boiled in milk applied externally poultice for the treatment of mumps and certain skin eruptions.

APPLICATION: Drinkable with Water or Milk for constipation. Flavors added can be easy soluble.

SURMA/LEADORE

SCIENTIFIC  NAME:  GALENA

UNIQIUNESS: Galena is the main ore of lead, used since ancient times. Because    of  its somewhat low melting point, it was easy to liberate by smelting.

In some deposits galena contains about 1–2% silver, a byproduct that far outweighs the main lead ore in revenue. Galena deposits often also contain significant amounts of silver as included silver sulfide.One of the oldest uses of galena was in the eye cosmetic kohl. In Ancient Egypt, this was applied around the eyes to reduce the glare of the desert sun and to repel flies, which were a potential source of disease.

Galena is the primary ore of lead, which is mainly used in making lead–acid batteries; however, significant amounts are also used to make lead sheeting and lead shot. Galena is often mined for its silver content, such as at the Galena Mine in northern Idaho.

Also known as “potter’s ore”, galena is used in a green glaze applied to pottery.

APPLICATION: Widely used for eye cosmetics.

SCAMMONY RESIN/ SAQMUNIA

SCIENTIFIC NAME: CONVOLVULUS SCAMMONY LINN

UNIQUINESS: It is a twining perennial, bearing flowers like those of CONVOLVULUS ARVENSIS, and having irregularly arrow shaped leave and a thick fleshy root. The dried juice virgin scammony obtained by incision of the living roots has been used in medicine as Scammonium.

SILAJIT/ ASPHALT

SCIEINTIFIC NAME: ASPHALTUM

UNIQUINESS: Silajit is a blackish-brown exudation from steep rocks of different formations. It exudes from the rocks of mountains in summer season due to strong heat of the sun. Commonly found in Pakistan-Gilgit. People in the hilly areas take it to combat cold stress and as tonic. It is especially employed in genitor-urinary disorders such as incontinence of urine, gall and renal calculi. It is also beneficial in nervous disorders, epilepsy.

APPLICATIONS: Used as capsules, tablets for sex disorders.

SAFAID KODI/WHITE COWRIES

SCINEITIFC NAME: Chlorophytum Boriviianum

UNIOUINESS: The mystical cowry shell is small, white and glossy, resembling the female life-giving organ that is an amulet which increases fertility, and gives life. A beautiful shell that many ancient cultures had regarded as an amulet to add vitality to life, and to prolong their lives to the point of immortality.
