USTEQUDDUS/ LAVENDER FLOWER

SCIENTIFIC NAME: LAVANDULA STOECHAS

UNIQUNESS: They can be made into decorative crafts such as fresh or dried flower wreaths, bundles, sachets or potpourris and the most popular of all wands. It is prescribed for relieving nervous headaches. Its oil used in colic and chest affections and to relieve biliousness, locally to relieve nervous headaches.

TASTE AND ODOR: bitter in taste

APPLICATIONS: Used as oil, Gels, Handwash, Perfumes, green teas flavor.

CHARILA/ STONE FLOWER

SCIENTIFIC NAME: PARMELIA PERLATA

UNIQUNESS: It is a lichen, small perennial plant which is unique in that it is actually combination of two organisms- a fungus and an alga-growing together in symbiotic association. It is found on old trees, walls and rocks on the Himalayas.  As liniment it is applied over head for the treatment of stomach affections including dyspepsia.

TASTE AND ODOR: saline taste with aromatic smell.

APPLICATIONS: Its powder is prescribed as snuff for headache.

GULAB/ROSE

SCIENTIFIC NAME: ROSA DAMASCENA

UINIQUNESS: Grown in Pakistan widely with erect shrub upto 2m high. The flower is useful in burning sensation. It removes bad dour from the mouth, improves appetite, benefits the lungs, kidneys, heart and liver and good for the eyes. The fruit and stamens are thought to be hot, dry and astringent .A conserve made from equal parts of rose petals and white sugar beaten together as Gulqand.

APPLICATIONS: Used in face sprays, Perfumes, Oil, Soaps, Drinks, Incense Sticks

BABUNA/CHEMOMILE

SCIENTIFIC NAME: MATRICARIA CHAMOMILLA LINN

UNIQUNESS: A glabrous much-branched aromatic herb about 30cm high. Occurs in Pakistan. The essential oil of Chamomile contains less chamazulene and is mainly constintued from esters of angelic acid and tiglic acid.  Prescribed for the treatment of nervous excitability, convulsions, restlessness in children, insomnia, early stages of fever, measles, travel sickness. Inflammation of respiratory system, pre menstrual tension.

The flowers prescribed for the treatment of sexual debility. The oil is aphrodisiac, useful for pains, lessens the inflammations. Flowers are considered usueful remedy during dentition and infantile convulsions.

GAUZABAN/SEDGE

SCIENTIFIC NAME: ONOSMA BRACTEATUM

UNIQUNESS: IT is much used for fevers and pulmonary complaints. it promotes the activity of the kidneys and for this reason is employed to carry off feverish catarrhs. Borage reduced the effect of stress in the cardiovascular system. Stimulates bile secretion and reduces gall bladder inflammation.

TASTE AND ODOR: SWEET, PUNGENT AND BITTER

APPLICATION:  drinkable in hot water with honey, tea, green tea. Can be formulated in Medicines or Syrups.
